Buying Silicone
Are silicone pipes and bongs safe to smoke from?
Yes, when they are made from quality silicone. Every Eyce body is made from platinum-cured silicone that is food-grade, non-toxic and BPA-free. The flame only touches the borosilicate glass bowl, never the silicone body, so the hottest part of every session stays in the glass where it belongs.
What is platinum-cured silicone?
Platinum-cured silicone is silicone hardened with a platinum catalyst instead of peroxide. The platinum reaction leaves no curing byproducts behind, so there is nothing to bloom, feel oily or off-gas from the material. Peroxide curing is cheaper but leaves residue that has to be baked out. Eyce uses platinum curing on every silicone piece. Read the full breakdown.
Does a silicone pipe make your smoke taste different?
A clean, platinum-cured silicone pipe should not add flavor, because the material has no curing byproducts to release. Eyce pipes also burn your herb in a borosilicate glass bowl, so flavor comes from glass, not silicone. If a piece starts tasting harsh, it usually needs cleaning, not replacing.
Is a silicone pipe or a glass pipe better?
It depends on how you smoke. Silicone wins on durability, travel and easy cleaning since it bends instead of shattering. Glass wins on clarity and collectible art. Eyce pairs both: a platinum-cured silicone body with a borosilicate glass bowl. See our silicone vs glass comparison.
What is Oraflex?
Oraflex (Overmolded Rubber Art) is Eyce's patented glass-look silicone. A glossy, double-layered platinum-cured silicone shell mimics hand-blown glass, with hand-painted details, but keeps the durability of silicone. Oraflex pipes use a removable borosilicate glass bowl. Shop the Oraflex Floral Spoon.
Are Eyce silicone pipes really unbreakable?
The silicone body is built to take drops, packing and travel without cracking. The borosilicate glass bowl can still break, which is why the Eyce Lifetime Warranty includes a one-time replacement of damaged glass, metal and silicone parts in the first year.
Cleaning and Care
How do I clean a silicone pipe?
Eyce silicone is dishwasher safe: remove the glass bowl and use the top rack with no heated dry. For a deep clean, coat the inside with a plant-based, alcohol-free cleaner, let it sit up to 5 minutes, scrub with an old toothbrush, rinse and dry. See our silicone pipe cleaning guide.
Can I use rubbing alcohol or ISO to clean silicone?
We do not recommend it. Rubbing alcohol is caustic to silicone and can cause discoloration and slowly wear the material down over time. Use a plant-based, alcohol-free cleaner instead, on both the silicone body and the glass bowl.
Pieces and How They Work
What is a nectar collector?
A nectar collector is a straw-style piece for dabbing concentrates. You heat the tip and touch it to your concentrate instead of loading a bowl. The Eyce Collector has a platinum-cured silicone body, percolated water filtration and a titanium tip. Remove the middle section and it becomes a dry honey straw.
What is a dugout one hitter?
A dugout is a small case that stores your ground herb alongside a one hitter pipe, so you can load single hits on the go. The Eyce Solo is a silicone dugout with a borosilicate glass taster, steel poker and built-in tool holder.
What is the difference between a dab rig and a bong?
A bong is a water pipe built for dry herb, burned in a bowl. A dab rig is a smaller water pipe built for concentrates, vaporized on a heated nail or banger. Smaller rigs keep vapor paths short to preserve flavor. Shop Eyce silicone dab rigs or silicone bongs.
